Chaque jour, c\u2019est le m\u00eame rituel : immobile parmi les hautes herbes, les pattes avant s\u2019\u00e9levant au ciel, la mante religieuse fait sa pri\u00e8re du soir. Elle esp\u00e8re qu\u2019un m\u00e2le suffisamment d\u00e9gourdi viendra \u00e0 sa rencontre pour le diner. Apr\u00e8s tout, un peu d\u2019amour avant le repas n\u2019a jamais fait de mal \u00e0 personne. Mais pour l\u2019heure, elle patiente. Avec ses grands yeux, elle observe les alentours. Hormis une grosse masse sombre qu\u2019elle ne saurait identifier, rien ne bouge. Pas une sauterelle, pas un criquet. Aurait-elle \u00e9t\u00e9 rep\u00e9r\u00e9e ? Peu probable. Sa couleur se marie parfaitement avec celle de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, berc\u00e9e par les derniers rayons du soleil. Par moment, elle per\u00e7oit des vibrations \u00e9manant de toutes les directions. Ses antennes ne peuvent la trahir, il se passe quelque chose d\u2019inhabituel. Serait-ce lui ? Elle n\u2019a pourtant pas souvenir d\u2019un tel charisme. Tous les m\u00e2les qu\u2019elle a rencontr\u00e9s ont toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 plus petits qu\u2019elle. Certes ils savent mieux voler, mais \u00e0 quoi cela peut-il bien servir ? D\u2019autant qu\u2019ils ont beau se mouvoir plus rapidement, aucun n\u2019a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 lui \u00e9chapper. Il faut dire que c\u2019est plus fort qu\u2019elle. Quand elle a faim, elle mange. C\u2019est aussi simple que \u00e7a. Et force est de constater que l\u2019amour ouvre l\u2019app\u00e9tit. Soudain, elle l\u2019aper\u00e7oit. Il ne l\u2019a pas encore vue, mais il se rapproche. Encore quelques centim\u00e8tres et lui aussi la verra. Elle sait qu\u2019il ne pourra r\u00e9sister. Alors quand il arrive \u00e0 sa hauteur, elle n\u2019est pas \u00e9tonn\u00e9e de voir briller ses yeux. Un simple regard suffit d\u2019ailleurs \u00e0 le convaincre de passer \u00e0 l\u2019acte. Commence alors un \u00e9bat bien loin de la cruaut\u00e9 dont on l\u2019accuse d\u2019ordinaire. Mais tout \u00e0 coup, tandis que la faim commence \u00e0 se faire sentir, elle peut clairement discerner un \u00ab clic-clac \u00bb juste derri\u00e8re elle. Curieuse, elle tourne la t\u00eate \u00e0 180\u00b0 en direction de la source. Puis, tout s\u2019enchaine tr\u00e8s vite. A peine a-t-elle le regard tourn\u00e9, que son partenaire en profite pour d\u00e9ployer ses ailes et s\u2019envoler. Jamais une telle chose ne s\u2019\u00e9tait encore produite. Et jamais plus elle ne devra se reproduire. Alors seule et l\u2019estomac vide, elle se fait la promesse de ne plus jamais se laisser distraire par un vulgaire… photographe !<\/em><\/p>\n
